What is a pledoi or defence note?
In Indonesian criminal procedure, a pledoi is the defence presented by a defendant or defence counsel after the prosecutor’s sentencing demand. It may address the charge, evidence, legal elements and the relief requested from the court.
Typical structure
- Case identity and the defendant’s position.
- Summary of the charge and demand.
- Response to witnesses, experts and exhibits.
- Analysis of the charged legal elements.
- Defence request or conclusion.
